For esports stars and streamers sitting at a PC for upwards of eight hours a day is nothing new, and 24-hour streams are concerningly common. For anyone, no matter how well they prepare their bodies away from the PC, being stationary at a computer for this long is going to be an issue, and the stylish, but often poorly suited racing style gaming chairs that dominate the market do not help.
That is where the new gaming chair company Mavix comes in. The company is launching a new line of three chairs, the M5, M7 and M9, and compared to what you would instantly think of as a gaming chair they look very different. Gone is the racing chair style, with heavy leather and a bulky back, replaced with mesh, light materials and an ergonomic design that is more suited to comfort and wellbeing.
“We’ve been developing high-quality ergonomic office chairs for years, and during that time, we noticed a real demand from gamers for a high-quality ergonomic chair that enables them to play more comfortably in a way most racing-style chairs don’t offer,” said Mavix founder and longtime ergonomics expert Tony Mazlish. “Seeing that we could add real value to this market, we got to work developing a gaming chair lineup that offered substantial ergonomic solutions without sacrificing style or utility. We focused on keeping it simple and packing the M-Series with everything needed to create an exceptional gaming chair.”
Each of the chairs in the new Mavix range has X-Chair Dynamic Variable Lumbar support, which adjusts in three dimensions to fit every body type and enable an active seating experience. They also feature either Mavix Mash or Cool Gel M-Foam, both of which will keep you nice and cool during the hotter months, which is a major advantage over the sticky leather style racing chairs that dominate the market.
To promote the new chairs Mavix has signed deals with a number of big names in the streaming and esports space, including Rachell "Valkyrae" Hofstetter, Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez, Seth "Scump" Abner, Kris “FaZe Swagg” Lamberson and NBA player Josh Hart. Deals like this are nothing new, but for those who spend a lot of time in chairs at their desks, this deal was the perfect solution to a lot of their issues.
“I’ve never been a huge fan of gaming chairs,” said Valkyrae. “We all know a typical racing chair when we see one: bulky, loud, and not very comfortable. Mavix isn’t like that. They’ve done an awesome job hitting the mark across functionality, comfort and aesthetics. I remember begging the team to take my all-white M9 home immediately after the product shoot, I was so in love. I even fell asleep in it during the shoot.”
Compared to the big gaming chairs that are out there right now the Mavix line is certainly a breath of fresh air and the most professional looking gaming chairs out there. It remains to be seen just how comfy they are, but it would be great to see this style of chair become the standard in esports for a variety of reasons, from long term player health to style and useability.
